Elvéne Heading for Killarney…
April 14, 2010 by ProMotor

Round 3 of the Pro-Tour Series take to Killarney – Cape Town this weekend 17th April 2010
Setting for a good 4th place during the SuperHatch Challenge at Zwartkops Raceway the weekend of the 20th March, I have decided to take on Killarney for the first time. The track is tricky and bumpy but fast. Bearing in mind the video footage of Killarney race track and how quickly every corners creep up to you, this would be the perfect challenge and adventure for a novice like me.
The Goldwagen Challenge with well over 50 entries for one single formula would be the race to watch. Ranging from class A (2000cc motors), P (Polo challenge), B (1800cc cars) and C (1600cc cars), class C being the standard motor Citi Golf Velocity range. This action packed formula was originally started as a low budget class racing, so that the motor enthusiast could race and still have a meal by the end of the month. This formula grew into a challenge and is still evolving.
Very enthusiastic and nervous I will be challenging the class C cars this weekend. Friday kicks off with practice and qualifying before the big race day on Saturday. My goal would be to take it easy, feel the car and setup, done by my trusted friend and racing production car driver Lee Thompson. The difficult part would be to learn the top speed and use the momentum to be able to get the right brake point, turning point and hitting the apex 100%. From there on sit, relax and enjoy the journey.
This journey would not be possible if it weren’t for good friends and spot on sponsorship. Thank you to Accolade, Hi-Speed Spares, MFC and Venditor Konica Minolta for making this possible.
See you in Cape Town, Saturday 17th April!
